Laurent Martinez received his PhD degree in physiopathology from Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse, France). He is Director of research at Inserm and head a research team at I2MC since 2011.

Career path
After his PhD, Laurent Martinez did a post-doc at Columbia University (NYC, USA) in the laboratory of Pr. Alan Tall, working on the role of ABC transporters in lipoprotein metabolism. He did a second post-doc at the Mitochondrial Biology Unit in Cambridge (former Dunn Human Nutrition Unit, UK) in the team of Sir John Walker. He then integrated the CPTP research Institute in Toulouse, heading first an Inserm Avenir Team then his team moved to I2MC in 2011.

Laurent Martinez a obtenu son doctorat en physiopathologie de l'Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France). Il est directeur de recherche à l'Inserm et dirige une équipe de recherche à l'I2MC depuis 2011.

Carrière professionnelle 
Après sa thèse, Laurent Martinez a effectué un post-doctorat aux États-Unis à l’Université de Columbia (New-York) dans le laboratoire du Pr. Alan Tall, travaillant sur le rôle des transporteurs ABC dans le métabolisme des lipoprotéines. Il a effectué un deuxième post-doc à l'Unité de Biologie Mitochondriale de Cambridge (anciennement Dunn Human Nutrition Unit, Royaume-Unis) dans l'équipe de Sir John Walker. Il a ensuite intégré le centre de recherche CPTP à Toulouse, à la tête d'une équipe Inserm Avenir puis son équipe a rejoint l'I2MC en 2011.
